What Are the Minimum Order Quantities for Screen Printing?

Typically, for most screen print shops in the USA, the minimum order quantity for screen print is 24 pieces. When it comes to custom screen printing, one of the most common questions we hear at Mint Prints is:
"What’s the minimum number of shirts I need to order?"

The short answer? Our minimum order for screen printing is 24 pieces per design.
But let’s break down why, and what that means for you as a brand owner, artist, or event planner.

Why Is There a Minimum?

Screen printing is a high-efficiency process that’s built for volume. Each color in your design requires a separate screen to be burned, aligned, and set up. That process takes time and labor, so printing just one or two shirts isn’t very cost-effective. By setting a minimum of 24, we’re able to keep your cost-per-shirt reasonable while delivering the high-quality prints we’re known for.

Can You Mix Sizes or Garments?

Absolutely. You can mix shirt sizes or even switch between garments (like tees and hoodies) as long as the design stays the same and the print size and placement don’t change. Want to print the same design on both black and white tees? No problem — just make sure the ink colors work for both.

Want Fewer Than 24?

If you need fewer than 24 items, don’t worry — we also offer Direct-to-Garment (DTG) and Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing, which are better suited for low-quantity or one-off jobs. These methods don’t require screens and still give you vibrant, durable results.
